Top Glove Corp Bhd launches its Top Glove Global Doctors Medical & Dental Clinic (TGGD) today — a move for the world’s largest glove maker to make a foray into the healthcare business through a joint venture (JV) with Global Doctors, a clinic chain.

Top Glove executive chairman Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai said this is the first ambulatory care centre to be established within the vicinity of Setia Alam and strategically located in the tower itself.

“I am pleased to see these two names (Top Glove and Global Doctors) in healthcare come together to form TGGD with a common objective to provide high quality medical care, specialist and dental services to the community in and around this area (Setia Alam),” he said at the opening speech.

Aimed to serve the neighbouring community focusing on preventive healthcare, TGGD is a one-stop ambulatory care centre offering a complete range of medical services encompassing diagnosis, observation, consultation, treatment, intervention, rehabilitation and full-tiered dental facilities on an outpatient basis.

Established early this year, TGGD received its licence from the Ministry of Health as an ambulatory care centre.

Meanwhile, commenting on the JV Global Doctors executive chairman Datuk Dr Sharifah Fauziah said, “It is an honour for Global Doctors to embark on this venture with Top Glove and I am certain this will prove to be a fruitful partnership and look forward to growing our business together”.

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed has officially inaugurated the TGGD.

Mustapa said rubber glove industry is among the industries that have been significantly transformed over the years.

“From being a low-end industry, Malaysia now is the world’s leading producer of gloves supplying up to 65% natural rubber gloves and 50% synthetic rubber gloves of global demand,” he said.

Mustapa highlighted that Top Glove is one of the companies that has been a major beneficiary of the government’s continuous transformation in manufacturing industry.

On top of that, the minister was also at Meru today to launch the Top Glove Research & Development (R&D) centre.

The R&D centre was established in 2013 and it drives innovation at Top Glove, focusing on developing new products and technologies as well as advancing product enhancement.
